Hello from Alaska!

Hey, Kitty Kat!

I'm up in Alaska, and it's pretty cold. I would say it is in the twenties, so that is definitely cold enough for a jacket, but I haven't needed gloves or a hat yet. Of course, I haven't spent much time outside, either!

I'm at Elmendorf Air Force Base. It is on the bottom side of Alaska near a town called Anchorage.

See it, right above the towns of Kodiak and Homer? There is some snow on the ground, but not too much on the roads.

One thing that is neat about this Air Force Base is that they have built a big, roomy cage / house for two injured bald eagles. Those birds are really big and beautiful, and they look at you like they could eat you if they wanted!! It's neat to be able to see them up close.

I found this picture on the web, and it shows one of the eagles on a perch in the cage. What a neat looking animal!

Another neat thing about this base is a hot dog restaurant called "Chicago's Best". I had a hot dog with pickles, tomatoes, onions, relish, and peppers on it! And, it was really good! If I can find a place like that in San Antonio, we'll have to go so you can see what you think.

Today, by the way, is Veteran's Day. It is for giving thanks for people who served in the military. Be sure to think of Grandpa, Grandpa Harold, and Papa Bob who were all in the military. Tell them thanks if you get a chance.

Well, I'll get on the plane tonight at midnight, and be home tomorrow afternoon. Now that's a long flight!! I'm looking forward to seeing you on Thursday, and going to indoor soccer over at the JCC.

I love you, and will talk to you soon.

Your favorite dad.
