A chilly greeting from Wright-Patterson

Burr - diddle, Kat!

I am up in Ohio, and, according to the computer, it is 27 degrees but feels like 17 degrees with the wind! Man, that is too cold!

On the other hand, the only snow I've seen is the pretty variety that falls down in big, pretty flakes but doesn't stick to the ground. The bad kind, as your Mom can tell you, is the stuff that sticks on the ground, makes the roads slippery, and makes you have to get out the snow shovel!! Now that's no fun!

It is supposed to be warm tomorrow, though. Around fifty degrees, according to the computer. That's more my speed!

The Air Force Base I am visiting, Wright Patterson AFB, is home to the National Air Force Museum. It is housed in these three enormous hangar-type buildings. They are huge! I won't have a chance to visit, I suspect, but I've been told that if you want to see all of the neat exhibits inside, you need to plan to go for a couple of days!! That would be a pretty neat trip!

Here's a picture of the front of one of those hangars:

The flying mission here is for one of the biggest air planes in the world, the C-5. These are the same kind of planes that take off from Lackland, down by the gym I go to at lunch. The planes are so big, Kat, that when they take off, they don't look like they're even moving very fast. They look like big balloons just hanging there! Here's a picture of one. Look at how tiny those people are standing next to it!

When I was a little boy, probably about Gabe's age, Papa Bob took me down to the base where he was stationed (it may have been Lackland, right there in San Antonio), and got a picture of him and me standing in the mouth of one of these huge planes. We'll have to ask him and Nana to find those pictures. You can tell me if I looked like you or Gabe when I was little.

Well, I've got to go and study for my school classes that I'm taking. I have home work, just like you, but I don't do nearly as good a job getting it all done on Mondays as you!

I love you, and look forward to seeing y'all on Thursday.

Your favorite dad
